It’s raining periodic dramas for Prithviraj

Five years after he played the role of 16th century hero Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar in Urumi, his first periodic feature, Prithviraj is readying for more epic narratives.   

Veteran director Hariharan, known for making periodical dramas including Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Pazhassi Raja has signed the young actor for a film titled Syamanthakam based on lord Krishna's life. The multi-lingual movie, three sides of Krishna- the lover, the warrior, and the philosopher- will have actors from North as well as South film industries.

The next in line is Karnan a bilingual project based on the mythological character of Karna in Mahabharata. At an estimated budget of ₹ 45 crores, it will be the costliest film ever made in Malayalam. RS Vimal, who directed the Prithviraj starrer Ennu Ninte Moideen, will be directing the movie.

And the latest project that is doing the rounds is Velu Thampi Dalawa scripted by Renji Panicker. Prithviraj will play the historical character of Veluthampi Dalawa, the prime minister of the Travancore kingdom in early 1800, who bravely fought the British rule.
