High Court confirms life sentence in Pratibha rape case

The Bengaluru High Court has confirmed cab driver Shivakumar's life term for raping and killing techie Pratibha in Bengaluru in 2005.

 

In a crime that shocked the IT city, Pratibha, a techie was raped and killed by her assigned company cab driver. The accused was arrested and sentenced to life term by the Sessions Court in 2010. But the accused had filed an appeal in the High Court.

 

After hearing the case, the High Court merely confirmed the sentence, ordering Shivakumar to serve a life term in the prison.

 

Pratibha,28, was an employee of HP Global BPO. On December 13 in 2005, she was raped and murdered while on her way to her office premises for the night shift.
