Night power cuts increase theft cases in South Bengaluru

power cut theft

The fear of thieves has increased among the residents of Tavarekere Village of Bengaluru South, which had led the residents to appeal to The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) against power cuts during the night hours.

The residents, who have been guarding village themselves during the night on the shift-basis, expressed anger towards the decision of KPTCL claiming that the decision of KPTCL has aggravated the thieves’ activities.

“Minister of Energy had assured us 24 hours electricity during Zilla panchayat election, which never happened," said Manjunath, a resident of the village.

"We will stage a severe protest if the situation continues," he said. "Minister’s assurances are just political gimmicks."

However, Vittal, Assistant Engineer, KPTCL claimed that there was no load shedding.

He said the residents should call the customer care and problems shall be fixed immediately.
