If you have a cold, congestion, body ache and irritation, you better check with pulmonologist as this could be a killer swine flu. The flu has spread in Karnataka due to change in weather.

Officials from the health department have confirmed that Shivomagga, Davangere and Bengaluru have already witnessed a double figure mark regarding a number of positive cases in the deadly disease.

Dr Sashidhar Buggi, Director of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Disease, said, "The hospital has already made arrangements for isolation ward as this illness is contagious and it could prove fatal. Few cases that were referred from other areas were treated and sent back," he said.

People can come in contact with the virus through door knobs, bath towels and keys.

"People who are asthmatic and diabetic are vulnerable. If the viral fever is neglected person can die of multi-organ failure," said Dr Buggi.

In 2015, the State witnessed 94 deaths in this season starting from September to up to March. "We have put the high alert at trains station and also at the airport as we do not want this disease to spread," said an official from the health department.

The doctors say strict hygiene and diet can cure this disease in a week.
