pinarayi surprise raid govt office

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan made a surprise visit to the government press office in the heart of the city on Saturday.

The employees who were in a weekend mood were taken aback by the unannounced arrival. After the quick inspection, speaking to media persons, the chief minister said the office had become a heritage museum with heaps of unwanted things and bundles of papers lying around.

"Other departments approach the government press to print pamphlets and other publications, once printed they take back only a certain number of copies they need, extra sheets gets accumulated. The respective departments should make sure that they take back the copies they ordered and not dump it in the office," said Vijayan.

Vijayan also added that unscientific methods of burning the trash cause serious health issues for workers, and the government will soon introduce scientific methods to get rid of paper waste.

The chief minister had stressed the need to make the government machinery more organised and graft-free and urged government employees to ensure the wholehearted involvement and cooperation to serve the common man.
