Vaikuntha Samaradhane - It is a ceremony in South India where friends and relatives of the departed soul join together to celebrate the entry of the departed one into Vaikunta (home of Supreme Lord Vishnu).

With a portrait of Jayalalithaa, Kollegal priest Ranganath Iyengar led the rituals seeking salvation for her soul. Vedas and Purana were read and shanthi were performed.

The customs were performed by Jaya’s brother Vasudevan and niece Amrutha. They even donated new clothes, a cow, gold and silver ornaments to Brahmins.

Vasudevan along with his family and other kin of Jayalalithaa took part in the Samaradhane and had lunch together.

"The government should take over my aunt’s property and sought a CBI probe into her death," Amrutha told the media persons.

She said she is determined to fight until she find out the “actual reason” of her aunt’s death, Amrutha also blamed Jayalalithaa’s aide Sasikala for her demise.
