The Karnataka Government on January 24 instructed the Public Welfare Department to widen five roads that lead to the . These five parallel routes will be widened into four-lane highways.

 

Currently, only one six-lane route (the Expressway from Hebbal) exists that connects the city with the Airport. Now, five parallel roads will be developed, which will considerably reduce traffic congestion.

 

Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George held a meeting with the officers of BMRDA, BBMP, BDA and Public Welfare Departments on January 24 and decided on the road-widening projects. The process of land acquisition has already been completed. Along with the widening of the roads, the PWD is also thinking of constructing grade separators.

 

Route 1: Hennuru-Kannuru-Bagaluru and International Airport

Route 2: Nagavara-Thanisandra-Bagaluru and International Airport

Route 3: Budigere Cross–Bagaluru Road and International Airport

Route 4: Goragunte Palya–HMT Factory–Gangammagudi Circle–Yelahanka and International Airport

Route 5: State Highway (Cargo) that connects Hosakote and International Airport
