Edapadi Palanisami is expected to meet the governor at around 5.30 pm along with a group of 12 MLAs and stake claim to the CMs post.

Sasikala, who is a convict in a disproportionate assets case involving Jayalalithaa and others, appointed Palanisami as her proxy before heading to Bengaluru.

AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala before leaving Chennai took a vow in front of her friend and former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa's burial site on Marina Beach to punish the "AIADMK defectors."

She is accompanied by her sister-in-law J Elavarasi, who is also a convict in the case. Sasikala is expected to arrive the Bengaluru Central Jail at around 4pm and will surrender before a court on the prison premises.

After finishing formalities, including a medical check-up, she would be lodged in the women's enclosure in the jail.

K.A. Sengottaiyan, who is now AIADMK's presidium chairman following the removal of incumbent chairman E. Madhusudanan, told local news channels that he was confident that the governor will call Palanisami to form the government.
