FollowNow travellers will be able to avail flight services from Pondicherry to Bengaluru from January 2017. This comes as great news for travellers who would want to cut down on their travelling time. Chief Minister of Pondicherry V Narayanasamy confirmed the news and stated that flight operations should commence from January.
Pondicherry Airport will be having flight services to Bengaluru (via Tiruchy), Tirupati, Kochi, Coimbatore and Hyderabad as well.
The Civil Aviation Ministry has already floated a tender to select the flight operator. In all probabilities, it seems like Alliance Air will be the one operating those 70-seater aircrafts from Pondicherry.
The Tamil Nadu government has already started land acquisition for the expansion of the Pondicherry Airport runway.
Travellers from Bengaluru, who want to spend their weekends in Pondicherry, will now be able to avail a flight and travelling to even less than half.
However, the Civil Aviation Ministry is yet to announce flight services from Bengaluru to Pondicherry. But with the way things are going, it does look like some more domestic airlines might just start flight services from Bengaluru to Pondicherry as well.
