Pilakal Nazeer, a former police constable in Bahrain and a notorious luxury car thief, was arrested by Madiwala police in Bengaluru. He is charged for stealing a car worth approximately ₹35 lakh in Chennai.

The now 56-year-old resident of New Gurappanapalya was earlier arrested in 2014 by Electronic City police for stealing an Audi worth ₹30 lakh from a showroom near Parappana Agrahara. The repeat offender has multiple cases registered against him in 11 police stations.

Police investigation on Nazeer revealed that he was a constable in Bahrain between 1998 and 2006 and that he was arrested for collecting credible information. Disclosing his way of operating, the police said that Nazeer would visit car showrooms, express interest in the car, take it for a test drive and then escape. After creating fake documents for the car he would try to palm it off to customers in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Maharashtra.

Nazeer is a Keralite, whose job took him to Bahrain and then led him back to India. The ex-cop was out on bail and he had chosen to steal again.

Nazeer was picked up by police for interrogation where he admitted to stealing a Hyundai Santa Fe from a Hyundai Motor service centre located at Ekkaduthangal in Chennai. The stolen car was recovered based on the information he gave.
