Actress Assault: Navy divers search for Pulsar Suni's phone in backwaters

The mobile phone in which, possibly, the assault on the Malayalam actress was filmed will prove crucial in the case, if it is found. Kerala police have been hunting high and low for the device, and suspect the main accused, Pulsar Suni, may have tossed the phone into the backwaters. 


Kerala has innumerable backwaters, which form a national highway grid also in some places. However, the cops are hoping a search under the Goshree bridge will prove fruitful. During interrogation, sources say Pulsar Suni claimed he had tossed the phone in the vicinity. 


Kerala has requested the help of expert Naval divers to make a through search. Reports indicate that five divers have been tasked with finding the phone.


Meanwhile, a court in Aluva granted police custody of the four accused of abducting and assaulting the noted Malayalam actress. The First class Judicial Magistrate's court sent Manikandan, Martin, Salim and Pradeep to police custody till March 3.


They were arrested from various locations soon after the February 17 incident.


An identification parade of the four was held at the Aluva sub-jail on Saturday. Seeking the custody of the accused, the police said they wanted to cross-examine all the six suspected to be involved in the crime.


The Court had earlier granted police the custody of the two key accused - 'Pulsar' Suni and V P Vigeesh - after their arrest on February 23. They will be in police custody till March 5.


The actress, who has also starred in Tamil and Telugu films, was allegedly abducted and molested inside her car for two hours by the accused.


The accused had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17 and later escaped in a busy area in Kochi.
