Namma Bengaluru reaches out to victims of demolition drive

Pouring their heart out and cursing the BBMP for demolishing their homes, residents of Doddabommasandra,Yelhanka, Attur, Ananthapura,Thirumenahalli and Ramachandrapura villages shared their documents with Namma Bengaluru on Wednesday.

 

Hundreds of victims, who shared their grievances on the demolitions, signed a petition to the chief minister of Karnataka demanding that there be no double standards in demolishing illegal constructions.

 

Other demands include bringing even rich and well-connected persons named in the encroachment list under the rule book, compensation on humanitarian grounds to the victims and the displaced who have homes with BBMP plan approvals, and prosecution without exception of all guilty government officials and erring builders under all relevant sections of all laws violated.

 

NBF will share these details with the Namma Bengaluru Citizens Committee (NBCC) formed to review land grabs, encroachments, illegalities reported and forward as necessary to appropriate authorities – government agencies, media and legal action.
