Actress assault: Nadigar Sangam extends support, writes to Kerala CM

Nadigar Sangam officially called The South Indian Artists Association has written to the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the kidnapping and molestation of the popular Malayalam actress on the night of February 17. This association of film, television and stage actors in Tamil Nadu is based in Chennai and was formed in the year 1952. 

The letter expresses shock about this ‘unruly behaviour and violent attitude of her own driver and his associates’. It also mentions that the driver and his associates ‘have worked out a game plan master minded by the driver and committed an act of abduction and molested with ulterior motive and intention’.

This letter further affirms that ‘there is no safety and security even for a popular celebrity woman in our state and country. Then imagine the situation of an ordinary person’. 

The letter ends with a request to the CM to immediately intervene to address the issue and also expedite the investigation to book the culprits and ‘put them behind bars in the interest of justice’. A copy of this letter has also been sent to The President/Secretary of Association of Malayalam Artists (AMMA). 

Meanwhile, Tamil actor Vishal has also condemned the incident and stated that Tamil cinema stand by the actress and that it will provide physical and emotional support to her. He also confirmed that the film industry has appealed to Kerala CM to serve justice at the earliest and that punishment must be severe, so people think twice before attempting such atrocities.
