Mobile number thieves are there in Karnataka too

It is reported that some miscreants who run mobile currency recharge shops in Bengaluru, particularly in North and West Bengaluru, are selling the mobile numbers of their lady customers. Such lady customers are frequently receiving indecent phone calls and messages. Both private and government cyber institutions have reported such incidents.

The miscreants who purchase the phone numbers of ladies from mobile shopkeeper starts making calls and sends friend request messages to the ladies. If they don’t embark then he starts sending obscene and indecent messages. Some miscreants start sending porn video clips also.

The report says that most of the ladies don’t complaint, just block such numbers and avoid them. Woman helpline centres are receiving around 250 complaints every day in Bengaluru. Sources from the woman helpline say that most of such miscreants are from outside states. The helpline personnel call such miscreants and warn them. But many offenders are neglecting such warnings and continuing their practice.

The study report of woman cyber security say that this selling of ladies mobile numbers takes place mostly in bus stands railway stations and in busy areas, where regular customers don’t come.

As per the rule the shop keeper of mobile currency recharge centre is supposed to take down the mobile phone details of the customer who recharge their mobile phones in their centres. The shopkeepers are taking disadvantage of this rule. The report says that some shopkeepers have allocated different colours of ink pens for men, women and girls. Some shopkeepers, in their registers write ‘L’ (indicating lady) and ‘G’ (indicating girl) in the last row of the respective numbers.

They are selling the numbers for ₹ 50. The rates are hiked up to ₹ 500/- based on the age, glamour and other factors of the female.
