Minor boy held in Walayar rape case

Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mysterious death of two sisters in Walayar arrested a minor boy in connection with the case. The boy admitted that he had abused the sisters several times.

The youngster, who has completed Plus Two, was doing menial jobs and used to visit the house to play with the girls. "The boy admitted that he had sexually abused the children several times. Being a minor, he will be presented before Juvenile Justice Board and sent to Juvenile Home," narcotic DySP and SIT head M J Sojan said.

The police have already arrested four persons, including two relatives, of the girls. The arrested are V Madhu and 'Kutti' Madhu, both relatives of the girls and two neighbours. With the arrest of the minor boy, police have arrested five persons in the case.

The mother of the girls, 14-year-old and 9-year-old, had told police that a neighbour had abused elder girl several times.

The younger girl was found hanging at home on March 4. It was after three days that the police confirmed that the girl had been sexually abused. The elder girl was found dead in similar circumstances in January.

The family was living in a shed at a plot near to the house which was under construction. The investigation team was reconstituted after police confirmed sexual abuse of girls. The girls were found dead in a span of 52 days.
