India's civil society cannot call itself civil. That is, if it lets people like this in its midst get away with such unimaginable animal cruelty, like shooting dead a dog and burning pups alive.

What's worse, young boys have been caught on camera burning the pups alive, even as they shriek for their dear life.

Barely three weeks after the case of a medical from the terrace of his building in Chennai hit the headlines and shocked the country, two more cases - far more horrific - have come to light, this time from Hyderabad.

In the first incident, that apparently took place on July 16 inside Wazir graveyard in Musheerabad area of Hyderabad, half a dozen boys are seen trying to burn three pups. In the audio, you can hear the boys asking each other to ensure the pups do not escape and put more wood to burn them alive.

The complainant, Shreya Paropkari, who is an animal welfare officers in the Animal Welfare Board of India in her FIR says that the recording was recovered from Fiaz, the owner of a fish stall in Musheerabad fish market.

In another incident that reportedly took place a week ago in Hyderabad's Nampally area, which is in the heart of the city, a man can be seen shooting dead a dog. There is absolutely no remorse, as the man nonchalantly lets loose an expletive after shooting down the canine.

By a strange coincidence, the presence of a gunny bag at Necklace road along the city's Hussainsagar lake on Wednesday afternoon created a flutter. The police were called in to check the unclaimed bag and the body of a pregnant dog was found inside it.
