Mangalore airport shut down after MiG29K makes emergency landing

 

The Mangalore International Airport was temporarily shut down on Tuesday evening after a MiG29K fighter aircraft made an emergency landing due to hydraulic failure.

 

The fighter aircraft belonging to the Indian navy was on a routine training sortie when it developed a snag and was diverted to the Mangalore International airfield. However, during the landing the aircraft experience a tyre bust and couldn't clear off the runway. The pilot is safe.

 

According to ground sources, since 5 pm no domestic or international flight has been allowed to land. As per reports, even at 7.20 pm, the fighter jets were still on the runway.
