The Mangalore International Airport was temporarily shut down on Tuesday evening after a MiG29K fighter aircraft made an emergency landing due to hydraulic failure.

The fighter aircraft belonging to the Indian navy was on a routine training sortie when it developed a snag and was diverted to the Mangalore International airfield. However, during the landing the aircraft experience a tyre bust and couldn't clear off the runway. The pilot is safe.

According to ground sources, since 5 pm no domestic or international flight has been allowed to land. As per reports, even at 7.20 pm, the fighter jets were still on the runway.

The recovery team currently is on the site.
