Malayalam film director Diphan passes away

Malayalam film director Diphan passes away

Diphan, the director of Malayalam film Puthiya Mugham, passed away at a private hospital in Kochi. He was 47. 
 

The director who is known for his action films such as Puthiya Mukham and Hero was suffering from liver disease for some time. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi for past two weeks. 
 

Diphan began his film career as an assistant to director Shaji Kailas with superhits like Aram Thampuran and Narasimham. 
 

His first directorial venture was Sai Kumar starrer political drama The King Maker Leader. He rose to fame with Prithviraj action thriller Puthiya Mugham. 
 

Diphan has directed seven films including, Puthiya Mugham, Sathya, Hero, D Company, The Dolphins, The News Maker, Gangs of Vadakkumnathan and The King Maker Leader. 
 

His last film featuring Jayaram in the lead role is yet to be released. 
 

He is the son of dubbing artist Anandavalli. He is survived by his wife Deepa and sons Madhavan and Mahadevan. 
 

It was the films of Deepan which gave an action hero image for Prithviraj. The actor condoled the death on Facebook. 
 

His body will be cremated at Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
