A noted Malayalam actress was kidnapped and sexually molested on Friday night.  The accused has many pending cases against him. The Malayalam film industry has reacted to the assault with shock, outrage.

The past few days, we've seen outrage over the sexual assault of noted Malayalam actress, and many prominent figures have come out in support of the actress. It has raised several questions such as - why was the main accused in the molestation case with many cases pending against him in different police stations hired by many celebrities as their driver?

With the accused being a repeat offender, it has also brought to light the probable underworld links to Malayalam film industry, according to the New Indian Express. Writer N S Madhavan has criticised the underworld links in Mollywood, according to the report. Furthermore, Director Vinayan has said that the driver was booked for a similar case earlier and producer Suresh Kumar had to rescue his wife from Sunil. Despite the incidents and cases, the driver worker for Mukesh for three years.

Reportedly, the police have gathered evidence that several prominent members of the Malayalam film industry had made phone calls to Sunil aka Pulsar Suni after the incident. However, the police didn't reveal any concrete date or divulge any names.

The police claimed that the driver had hatched the plot roughly a month ago. While the actor was shooting in Goa a month ago, he planned to take her photos in compromising photos and extort about Rs 30 lakh from her. Martin, who was the actor's driver, was offered a part of the sum by Suni.

MACTA Federation general secretary Baiju Kottarakkara reportedly said, "This is not an isolated case. The production controllers who have been in touch with Suni should be interrogated."

"The FEFKA should stop giving membership to everyone who pays the fees, without checking their background,” he added.
