North Karnataka has come to a standstill as protests continue. Various groups took out protest marches and most parts of Northern Karnataka districts remain closed. The only activity was protesters shouting slogans against the government in pockets.

Violent incidents were reported from Dharwad-Hubballi on Friday as well. The Kalasa Banduri Horata Samithi (agitation committee) is driving the mass protest. Additional police personnel have been deployed to control the situation.

Since Thursday, more than 20 government offices have been set ablaze, and three persons in the state attempted suicide during the protests in the twin cities of Dharwad and Hubballi.

Interestingly, the protesters have also demanded a separate state. A large group of activists were on the streets of Dharwad as early as 6 am and hoisted a 'North Karnataka' flag, demanding a separate state.
