Fear of Mahadayi protests? Congress MLA Ashok Pattan resigns

Mahadayi protest intensifies, Congress MLA Ashok Pattan resigns

Protesters were planning to lay siege to Congress' Ashok M Pattan’s house in Belagavi. Luckily, right in time he has announced his decision to resign from his post of the chief whip to the Legislative Assembly and declared he was in support of the protests.

Ashok has sent his resignation letter to Speaker KB Koliwad through the tahsildar.

Earlier, the protesters in North Karnataka had announced to lay a siege to the houses of BJP leaders Prahlad Joshi and Jagadish Shettar too.

It looks like the leaders are feeling the heat of the protest and do not desire to be the target of anger.

Leaders of all parties are showing solidarity with the protesters and rejecting the verdict of the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal.

Soon, an all-party delegation from the state under the leadership of chief minister Siddaramaiah will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to intervene in the Mahadayi water dispute between Karnataka and Goa.

It can be noted that as an after effect of the protests in the state, Goa had stopped transportation to Karnataka for two days.
