When the meal was served on Monday, children of the madrasa complained of finding razor pieces in curry served. Soon madrasa officials lodged a complaint with the police.

While quizzing the madrasa staff, police grew suspicious of Alimuddin, a labourer from Assam, and took him into custody. On detailed interrogation, he admitted to the crime, police said.

Police said that Alimuddin committed the crime to seek revenge on the cooks of the Madras a as they always refused him food.
