Karnataka HC sacks 28 'ineligible' public servants

K'taka high court: 28 'ineligible' public servants to be sacked

A division bench of Karnataka High Court delivered a landmark verdict on Tuesday which will result in 28 public servants being sacked. The court declared the  28 candidates 'ineligible' from the 1998 batch recruitment process for the posts of Gazetted Probationers Group A and B as ineligible.

The PIL petition was filed by Khaleel Ahmed KR and 24 other candidates who alleged that the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) had failed to follow the direction of the High Court for moderation of answer scripts, besides alleging irregularities in the selection process.

Candidates, who were selected in the 1998, 1999 and 2004 batches, could also lose their jobs as the bench comprising Justice N. Kumar and Justice B. Veerappa has directed the KPSC to redo the merit list of persons belonging to each one of the reserved categories.

The bench has also asked the KPSC to appoint 28 eligible candidates in place of the public servants who will be sacked.
