Get paid for waste at Kochi's innovative e-waste market

Kochi has finally woken up to the problem of the ever-increasing volume of e- waste, one of the biggest environmental issues faced by the city. The city corporation has joined hands with Clean Kerala Company Ltd, a state-run agency under the Department of Local Self-Government, to collect and dispose of e-waste generated in the city in a scientific manner.Â
If you are ready to wait for two months, you can sell all your electrical and electronic waste at the e-market campaign. The corporation will procure waste at ₹ 5 per kg. All kinds of electronic waste ranging from laptops, personal computers, fridge, tube lights and mobile phones can be sold at the market. Â
If you want to get rid of the hazardous waste at the earliest, you can either drop an email to ewastecampaign@gmail.com or contact the company at 9497432197. A company representative will collect the waste from your doorstep. In case your e-waste weighs more than one tonne you have to email to cleankeralacompany@gmail.com
"Our officials will directly come to your houses and collect the waste within seven days after getting your request," Clean Kerala Company managing director Kabeer B Haroon said.
The company would then hand over the waste to Earth Sense Recycle Pvt Ltd, a e-waste recycler based in Hyderabad.Â
