Know what CM says about Kannada film industry

CM Siddaramaiah, while inaugurating the 9th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (Biffes) assured every support from government for the development of Kannada film industry. However he hinted that the film industry can progress only with good quality of movies “The government is giving subsidy to around 125 movies annually. It is not the subsidy but the quality of film production can improve the film industry” he said.

 

He expressed his worry about the deteriorating quality of Kannada cinemas of these days and remembered the cinemas of early sixties and seventies “Today more than 180 films are being produced. Let the industry people ponder over how many of the movies are of good quality” he added.

 

“Today Kannada cinema has a heritage of 82 years and is heading towards its 100th birth day. The film industry has to take the responsibility to attract audience by the time it completes 100 years”  - CM Siddaramaiah

 

He assured Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce that he’s going to call for a meeting and resolve the problems of the Chamber. In his speech he remembered the talent and the contribution of Dr. Rajkumar. He told that in his youth he had watched Rajkumar’s ‘Bangarada Manushya’ five times.

 

Bengaluru Development minister KJ George, speaker DH Shankara Murthy, Kannada and Culture Development minister Umashree were present in the inauguration.
