Keralas priests shocking opinion on women goes viral

These days, everyone from ministers to regional gurus are making speeches about the modern lifestyles. In particular, there seems to be great interest in the dressing styles of women.

Recently a Kerala-based priest was seen moral policing on a TV channel named Shalom. The attempt has not gone down well with many in Kerala, as is evident from the strong negative responses and memes it garnered from netizens.

Here is what the priest said, "I often come across some girls, who wear jeans or pants, shirt or t-shirt in churches. They would also be carrying a cell phone and handkerchief and would have left their hair open without tying it with a ribbon. I wonder why these people are coming like this to church."

The priest also quoted the Holy Bible (Deuteronomy 22:5) while addressing his followers, "Has the Catholic Church allowed girls to don jeans and shirt used by men? Or does the Holy Bible gives you permit for that?"

The priest further criticised girls who wear leggings and not the usual churidar. He also demanded that girls wear shawls, stitching it with slits on the sides.

Interestingly, he claimed these modified dressing styles were the sole reason why girls were not getting good marriage proposals and are having family issues.

Although a few have supported the priest's statements, many have been posting negative comments - stating that it was a "ridiculous speech."

Actress Parvathi T and IAS officer Prasanth Nair have also shared the video on their Facebook pages.
