
For the past five days Afsana has been spending sleepless night along with her two-year-old child at the entrance of the house of her husband in Pallikandi near Kozhikode. She is one among many Muslim women in India fighting the controversial practice of 'triple talaq.'
Afsana says the talaq came as a big jolt to her. Her husband Arshad married another woman just after deserting her and their toddler daughter through 'triple talaq.' She says she had no clue.

The dejected woman alleges that she was tortured mentally and physically by her husband in the name of dowry and for being dark skinned.
"I was sent away from their house one day and then came the news of talaq. They never sought my consent, not even the Khasi or other responsible men tried to find out what went wrong," says Afsana.
However, Arshad has denied the accusations saying that his 'former' wife is framing him for money.
Afsana is resolute and said that she will continue her fight for justice and hopes to join the ongoing case demanding a ban on talaq in the Supreme Court.
Afsana and her child spend nights outside the house of Arshad. "I spend fearful nights outside this house with my little child. But I will fight on," she said.
