Kerala tops in e-education and e-services: Survey

Kerala tops in e education e services

Kerala tops in e-education and Internet usage says a survey report. The state stands first in e-seva and Facebook usage while it comes third in internet readiness. 
 

Internet readiness is a combined benchmark of four components, that is e-participation index, e-infrastructure index, government e-services index and IT-environment. The survey conducted by Internet and Mobile Association of India and Nielsen also states that Kerala tops in providing IT facilities in school education. 
 

It was found that as many as 4071 secondary and Higher Secondary schools in the state are equipped with IT facilities. The class rooms are broadband-enabled, and there are 160 trainers, and over 5600 schools heads as coordinators are helping students IT equipped. 
 

Unveiling the report, Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, said the country would leapfrog to world's top five positions in terms of connectivity within five to six years. India is currently placed at 155th position. 
 

Kerala also ranks number one regarding mobile users and over 50 among 100 mobile users have smartphones with internet connectivity. The state also tops in other facilities like revenue from e-seva, mobile users, e-commerce, e-transactions, e-sevas and Facebook users.
