If everything goes as planned, Kerala schools and curriculum will undergo an overhaul in the next few years that would see government schools upgraded to international standards and green protocol introduced in all educational institutions.

The new curriculum will place the students in the centre of education, and textbooks would be developed as e-content.

To nurture unique talents in each student, schools will have talent labs. Students will also get hands on experience in farming. Bio-diversity parks and swimming pools are also planned in public schools.

An ambitious plan to develop all government schools in international standards are also on the anvil. As a first step towards this direction, 220 Higher secondary schools in the state will recieve ₹ two crores each for improving infrastructure. As many as 640 LP-UP schools and 140 high schools will get ₹ one crore and ₹ five crores respectively. Besides this, 45,000 class rooms will go hi-tech.

Kerala schools will also turn environment-friendly. The plan is to adopt Green Protocol of ISO standards by the end of this month. The green protocol declaration in schools will be made across the state on 27 January. Non-recyclable plastic products will be out of school premises.
