Karnataka: Suspended JD(S) MLAs rage against the Gowdas

JD(S) MLAs who were suspended on Saturday for cross-voting against a party candidate in Rajya Sabha expressed their differences with JD(S) leader Deve Gowda and his family at a press meet on Monday.

They said that the family lacks leadership qualities, unlike Sonia Gandhi who gave up her post twice to let Manmohan Singh rule the country.

Six legislators, except Gangavathi MLA Iqbal Ansari and Chamarajpet MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan, accused the party of sidelining them and not consulting them while taking important decisions concerning the party.

These eight legislators from JDS were suspended for cross voting against its own party candidate BM Fahrooq in Rajya Sabha election held on Saturday.

The rebel MLAs, while talking to the media, claimed that Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy are responsible for the present crisis in the party and the lack of understanding between the father and the son has lead the party into a deep crisis.

They further said that the level of humiliation that they have faced within their own party will force them to reveal all the party secrets before the public.

They also questioned Gowda for not taking any action against Kumaraswamy when he joined hands with the BJP in 2006. "HD Kumaraswamy had done the same in 2006 and did not listed to his father and forged alliance with BJP and became CM. Devegowda should have suspended him from the party but he did not do that," N Cheluvarayaswamy said.
