The Karnataka government is making use of 8,000 drivers on probation to restart bus services, which was stalled from Monday. The transport department staff had called for the strike, urging for the fulfilment of their demands.
Currently, buses are plying under the watchful eyes of the police. No untoward events have been reported from Shanthinagar bus stop so far.
The transport staff, mainly drivers and conductors, are on a strike demanding a hike of 35% in their salary, which has not been changed from 2003. But the government has only consented to a 10% hike.
Refusing the offer, workers have decided to continue the strike.
Meanwhile, the government also has warned the 15,000 employees on strike to join work by Tuesday evening or to face suspension.
