Verifying the works under employment guarantee scheme and giving a report to the PDO was a part of his duty. He found some irregularities in bills presented by some contractors, withheld the grants and did not sign to their bills. On Monday evening, Srinivas was returning to Magadi town from Kunigal. At that time the miscreants, Keshav and Manjunath, stopped him on his way, attacked him and escaped.
“The contractors demanded that I approve grants for their fake bills. My son did not oblige to their unlawful demands. Hence those two fellows followed my son and cut his hands off for not signing their bills,” says Kalamma, Srinivas's mother.
