Bribery row: Advocates ask Chief Justice of India to transfer Karnataka CJ

Days after Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee made a shocking disclosure that he was being offered a bribe for a land case, the Advocates Association of Bengaluru have now approached  the Chief Justice of India for his transfer.

 

On July 5, while hearing a revision petition filed by Umrah Developers against the Revenue Department and the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban district, Justice Mukherjee recused himself from the case after telling the court that visitor had tried to buy a favourable verdict, he .

 

Following this the advocate association in Bengaluru had asked Justice Mukherjee to file a complaint against the person, who had approached him. However, since the Karnataka High Court judge failed to action, the advocates now want him out.

 

According to a local report, the Advocates Association recently held a special general body meeting presided by Association President H C Shivaram and passed a resolution against Justice Mukherjee.

 

The association has also decided to request Chief Justice of India to order an inquiry against Justice Mukherjee as to why he has not sort action against the person who visited his residence seeking favourable judgment and offered money recently, The New Indian Express reported.
