4,000 PU students will not write exams this year, thanks to attendance shortage
- Those who do not have 75% attendance are not allowed to write PU exams
- The Board has said that they will have to enrol again in the next academic year to complete the course
- But students allege that colleges have collected fine against attendance shortage
Â
This decision was criticised by the students, who staged a protest. Students alleged that the colleges had collected fines from those who had attendance shortage and demanded that they should be allowed to write exams.
Â
One of the officers from the Department of Pre-university Education (DPUE) told the Hindu that these students would have to enrol again for the year 2017-18 academic year to complete their PU course.
Â
The college authorities have said that they tried to increase the attendance of the students who had at least 70% by taking special classes for them.
Â
But the students have alleged that colleges collected fines from those who had attendance shortage and have not cheated them by not giving the hall tickets.
