Malayalam films have gone places in the past. But it is planning to make a milestone journey across the border for the first time.

 Filmmakers Aravindan, Adoor and Shaji N Karun and John Abraham brought laurels to the tiny state of Kerala. A very small industry when compared to Bollywood and the other South Indian film industries, Mollywood had films shot across the world. 

But makers of 'Karachi 81,' is planning to cross the hostile border and shoot the film in Pakistan, as the title suggests. K S Bava is directing the film with Prithviraj in the lead.

Industry insiders say that the film will be the first Malayalam flick to be shot in Pakistan. Besides the neighbouring country, the crew will also fly to Moscow for the action thriller.

The production of the film will begin after Prithviraj completed 'Tiyaan.'
