Amidst an outburst of rage across the state, the Police have taken two men into custody in connection with the Nirbhaya model rape and murder of a law student in Perumbavoor in Kerala. 

 

Two men, with their faces cover, were brought to Perumbavoor DYSP office for interrogation around noon. There were reports that the police had questioned a neighbour and the brother-in-law of the victim in connection with the incident.   

 

Jisha, a Dalit student of Government Law College in Ernakulam, was found killed in her home at Kurupampadi on Thursday evening. 
The postmortem revealed that she was killed during a rape attempt.

 

The cold-blooded murder and the extent of savagery sent shockwaves in Kerala and spontaneous protests are taking place across the state. There were several stab injuries on her face and her head crushed with a heavy object.  

 

The State SC/ST Commission had registered a case suo moto case and demanded the state government institute a special team for the probe. A massive protest march of civil society organisations will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday evening.
