While sharing the letter on FB, Brian wrote, “It was one of the most articulate, logical stinkers I received, so neatly written on a tasteful letterhead. She wasn’t Amma or Puratchi Thalaivi or CM then, just a fiery, artistic 32-year-old with an enormous personality and the will to succeed at whatever she set her heart on.”

He also wrote, "Stinkers are part of a journo’s life, especially when you’re writing filmi gossip columns. You read them, have a laugh and throw them in the bin. But this one, I actually kept from 1980, from the period when I was taking over the mantle of Piousji (‘Khaas Bhat’ column) from dear Arthur Pais. it was one of the most articulate, logical stinkers I received, so neatly written on a tasteful letterhead. She wasn’t Amma or Puratchi Thalaivi or CM then, just a fiery, artistic 32-year-old with an enormous personality and the will to succeed at whatever she set her heart on. RIP Jayalalitha. They don’t come like you anymore. (Pages of the letter omitted here out of respect)"
