Is Hyderabad the divorce capital of India

A shocking data from the civil family courts revealed that at least five divorce cases are filed everyday in Hyderabad. In the last 30 days, a whopping 152 divorce cases have been filed and several others are still pending at the Hyderabad Family Court.

Reports are suggesting that the couples looking for separation are only on the rise and are showing no signs of restraints. The number of divorce cases filed in 2016 was no less. Almost 3000 couples decided to part ways last year.

“The family court is currently occupied with divorce cases. More and more number of people, largely from the IT sector are opting for it. Divorce has been common in this sector for several years now, but the numbers are only skyrocketing,” M Prameela, a lawyer at the Hyderabad Family Court told The New Indian Express.

Why are the couples getting separated at such a massive rate? The answer to this question is probably – ego. There are several other minor reasons as well. Influence of family members and friends on the relationships is also one of the reasons for which couples are filing for divorce at a rapid rate.

“Both are earning and money has become the prime focus. There is no time or space for these couples to concentrate on their health leading to hormonal imbalance. They are unable to conceive children and stating this as a reason for divorce. There are also cases where the men doubt their spouses where they even go to the extent of checking their phones, their login times etc.,” Prameela added.

Looking at the data produced by the Family Court, Hyderabad might soon become the divorce capital of India.
