Recently, the city police nabbed a 31-year-old, Shivarama Reddy, after a woman reported that he molested her in her PG accommodation at knifepoint in Marathahalli Outer Ring Road.

Reddy happens to be a ‘serial rapist’ who was caught near Outer Ring Road after a gunfight that left Reddy and also HAL police inspector Sadiq Pasha, Bommanahalli police inspector Manjunath and sub-inspector Anand injured, reported Deccan Chronicle.

According to another report, Reddy is allegedly involved in minimum 30 rape cases in north, east, south and south-east police divisions, besides in Bengaluru Rural. Earlier, he was arrested in 2014 in a rape case, but after one year he was given as bail.

The most recent incident happened on March 2, and now, according to The New Indian Express report, one of the victim’s friend through a Facebook post has accused that a police official has offered them India vs Australia test match tickets for not filing an FIR in this matter.

Earlier reports also claimed that the police had taken time for filing an FIR in this matter. A friend of the victim allegedly stated that the police refused to take the complaint and they were made to wait for around 8 hours at the HAL police station. They also tried to convince the victim and her friend not to pursue the case.

In another Facebook post, the friend of the victim claimed that the station house officer asked the victim to not file the FIR by reasoning that the victim’s ‘image would be damaged and spoiled, which is not a good thing for girls and this is how girls get famous.’

However, the allegation has been denied by the Additional Commissioner of Police, East, Hemanth Nimbalkar. He further claimed that the police is following the procedure and also that it filed a second FIR with the correct charges.
