Hyderabad terror bust: Police release inventory, suspect profiles
The terror module busted jointly by the Hyderabad police and National Investigative Agency in the city was planning a deadly strike in the city during Ramzan and the Bonalu, the state festival of Telangana.
Â
“We can say we had successfully averted a terrorist attack that was planned to be executed in the near future coinciding with two big festivals in the city," a top Telangana police official told Asianet Newsable.
Â
With nearly 40% Muslim population, Ramzan is one of Hyderabad's most important festivals. Bonalu has been accorded the status of a state festival by newly-formed Telangana. Thousands of people congregate at the Hussainsagar lake in central Hyderabad as part of the celebrations. Â
Â
The NIA last night said the agency had registered a case based on credible information that some youth hailing from Hyderabad and their accomplices were planning to wage a war against India by carrying out explosions in several cities of the country.
