Justice AN Venugopal Gowda was hearing the petition filed against BBMP for conducting work on development of road on the land belonging to the HMT factory, without permission. The High Court asked the BBMP to submit a report on the works pending due to the stay order by the lower courts.
Justice Venugopal Gowda asked the BBMP officers to give details of the various cases against the BBMP with regard to laying of road and land issue.
He took BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad to task scolding the BBMP for 'not bothering to clear the stay on its projects'. Officers do not even apply for removal of stay orders, even after months, he said.
Background
BBMP had decided to widen the road at Jalahalli from 40 feet to 80 feet. BBMP had come forward to acquire land belonging to HMT. But the company had filed a petition in the City Civil Court against BBMP’s decision, accusing the Palike of laying road on the land belonging to HMT.
