Team Pinarayi gets going with popular decisions

first decisions of Pinarayi Vijayan ministry

Propelled to power with an enormous mandate, the Pinarayi Vijayan Ministry took office on Wednesday in Kerala started off with a slew of popular decisions and course correction. 

 

The first cabinet meeting of the new ministry decided to clear the long pending welfare pensions. The pension amount will reach the beneficiaries directly to their home. The five-year planning regime will be back in the local self-government bodies. 

 

The ministry discussed the progress in the Jisha murder case and appointed ADGP B Sandhya as the head of the investigation team. A monthly pension of Rs.5,000 will be given to Jisha's mother. The government also decided to expedite the construction of Jisha's house. 

 

A cabinet sub-committee will review the controversial orders issued by the Oommen Chandy government at the fag end of its rule. The panel, headed by Minister AK Balan, will have Thomas Isaac and VS Sunilkumar as members. The committee will submit its report as soon as possible.

 

 The cabinet also directed department heads to report all the vacancies to be filled in their respective departments.  

 

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Finance Minister Thomas Isaac will visit New Delhi on 28 May and meet Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister.
