Telangana accuses Andhra Pradesh of 'plagiarism'

Ease of Doing Business Andhra Pradesh Telangana

The Telangana government reportedly has accused Andhra Pradesh of plagiarising its 'Ease of Doing Business' (EoBD) presentation, which are submitted to the Central government.

The issue assumes significance as the state with a better ranking would have the edge, in terms of attracting investments.

Telangana also has filed a case with the Cyber Crime cell against Andhra Pradesh for “plagiarism” of their web designs and data formats that were submitted to the Ministry of Commerce.

“Screenshots are similar, typos are similar. It is not a coincidence. We believe they (the Andhra Pradesh government) have copied our software allocation without prior permission from us. It is unethical. We filed a case against them under cyber crimes laws. Investigation is going on," Arvind Kumar, Telangana Principal Secretary for Industries told The Indian Express.

The EoBD portal tracks the real-time implementation of the 340 action plans, which will be considered for the 2016 rankings. Currently, Telangana is in the second place, while Andhra Pradesh is one rank behind.

According to The Hindu, Telangana also has written to the Union Ministry of State for Commerce and Industry and sought action against States - without naming Andhra Pradesh -- that were undermining the hard work put in by Telangana by “adopting practices, which are not exactly fair and transparent.”
