DySP Handibag's suicide: New details emerge on Tejas kidnapping

The investigation into Tejas Gowda's kidnapping, which eventually led to DySP Kallappa Handibag’s suicide, has taken a new turn with regards to prime accused Abhiram’s role.

The story began when Tejas was arrested with 24 others while they were gambling at Chikkolale on June 27. It was Abhiram who bailed Tejas out of jail. A few days after this incident, Tejas was kidnapped, and Abhiram is suspected to have arranged for bouncers to kidnap Tejas.

The CID is trying to figure out how (and why) Abhiram bailed out Tejas Gowda and his long-term connections to Tejas.

The son of a retired soldier, Abhiram is currently in police custody and is being questioned. During the interrogation by the CID, Abhiram has shared further details about the bouncers and the place they stayed during the kidnapping.

Abhiram revealed that the bouncers enjoyed a three-day paid holiday in Chikkamagaluru. They kidnapped the boy, unknown to them, on the last day. They had no clue about the larger scheme and returned to Bengaluru.

Police have verified the information by paying a visit to the lodge and inspecting the register. Abhiram will be in police custody until July 30.

Meanwhile, with regards to Handibag's suicide, the CID questioned SP Santosh Babu on Thursday. A written statement has been obtained from the SP, said sources.
