If sources are to be believed, Congress strongmen R Ramalinga Reddy, Transport Minister and R Roshan Baig, Urban Development Minister, well connected to the high command are all set to vacate the seats from their constituencies to accommodate their children.

Ramalinga Reddy is likely to field his daughter Sowmya Reddy from the BTM constituency and Roshan Baig will field his son Ruman Baig from Shivajinagar constituency in the next election. Thus both the leaders are preparing the grounds for launching their children into Karnataka politics.

With the new developments, Ramalinga Reddy is said to be opting for Jayanagar assembly seat and Rohan Baig will contest as MP from Bengaluru Central.

Confirming to Asianet Newsable about her entry into politics, Sowmya Reddy says, she is taking politics as full-time career. "I am not sure about the constituency and the ticket, but I know the issues and what development is required in the BTM area from where my father Ramalinga Reddy was elected. The decision to field me is left to the seniors and the high command," she said.

Ramalinga Reddy, an environmentalist and animal rights activist who categorically denied from contesting election from any other assembly said, Sowmya is interested in politics and her growth depends on her efforts and also party seniors’ decision.

However, a source close to the minister said, Ramalinga Reddy, is very keen on contesting from Jayanagar Assembly in 2018.  "Before delimitation, six wards from Jayanagar were under BTM layout assembly and Ramalinga Reddy is not new to these wards. He is a household name, hence he wants to test his luck from Jayanagar."

Another prominent face from Bengaluru East, R Roshan Baig, having connection, with top leaders cutting across party lines from Delhi is likely to contest as a Member of Parliament from Bengaluru Central and will accommodate his son Ruman Baig from his Constituency, i.e Shivajinagar.

"God has been very kind to me so far, I am also hoping to take more responsibilities and hence, if I decide to take up the role of MP, my son will contest from my constituency and serve the people," Roshan Baig said.
