Police suspect that a 33-year-old IT employee, whose body was recovered from a lake in ITI layout near KR Puram, rode his bike into the water in a drunken stupor.

Umamaheshwara J, a native of Ballari, went missing on Monday night while returning from a friend's birthday party. He worked as a PRO with Capgemini and lived in KR Puram along with his wife and young child.
On Thursday afternoon, passersby noticed a hand popping out of the tank bed near ITI Layout. The police then fished the body out of the lake.
According to local reports, the deceased had gone for a birthday party along with his friends in car. The group returned to Mahadevapura late in the night and the 33-year-old insisted on riding back home despite being drunk. The police said that they have been informed by his friends that Umamaheshwara was drunk and despite repeated requests from his friends to take a cab, decided to ride home.
The police suspect that while Umamaheshwara was crossing the ITI lake, he in all probability plunged into the lake after losing control over his bike as there was no proper fencing and the road was slippery.
The KR Puram police are still investigating the matter and a final report is still awaited.
