Examinations are just around the corner and stress associated with it takes a heavy toll on the mental and physical health of students. Now, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has come up with an effective way to cope with the stress, through direct interaction with Direct Intervention System for Health Awareness (DISHA).

All you need to do is to give a call to 1056. Yes, it's as simple as that.

You will get the assistance of consultants who would help you cope with the stress. Both parents can children can seek the assistance of DISHA. "School qualifying exams are giving so much stress to children and students often feel that losing an exam or getting fewer marks is the end of the world. It is not right to give such enormous stress to children from such a young age. DISHA service was launched in 2013, primarily to counsel students," junior consultant J Varsha said.

In 2016, DISHA got over 1, 65, 000 calls on children's issues. Of these, calls related to exam stress accounted for over 25, 000 and not only children but parents too gave calls to us.

"We have specially trained officers to attend calls. The call will be transferred to experts if it is felt necessary. We got an empanelled team consisting specialist doctors," DISHA nodal officer and NRHM Thiruvananthapuram district programme manager J Swapnakumari said.

The facility is available for students in Kerala and Lakshadweep and those having BSNL, Reliance and Idea connection can call to 1056 while other network users can avail free service at 0417-2552056.
