Up to May 2016, 404 suspected cases of dengue were reported in Hassan, out of which 43 persons are confirmed to be suffering from dengue fever. These cases were reported from 37 villages.

Mysore has the most cases of dengue in the state followed by Hassan, said Dr Rajini, Nodal officer of Health and Family welfare Department, at a media conference.

A Larval survey has been conducted, fever inspection is being conducted and preventive measures are being implemented in the affected villages, she said.

Volunteers are visiting houses and taking steps to eradicate the edis insects. So far they have visited 84,256 houses and have found larvae in 1,758 houses. Out of the 28,925 water samples collected from houses, larvae has been found in 361 samples.

She also informed that the government has issued orders to the private hospitals not to charge dengue patients more than ₹500 for treatment. People can lodge a complaint with the department, if hospitals are charging more than the specified amount, she said.
