CPM workers hacked in Kerala

In a fresh escalation of political violence in the poll-bound Kerala, four CPM workers were allegedly hacked by BJP workers at Vannathimoola in Koothuparamba on Saturday night. The injured are identified as Suresh Babu, Purushothaman, Rameshan and Vijesh, all natives of Manantheri, Kannur. Among them, Suresh Babu, who had been severely injured, is admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore. Three others have been admitted to the Thalassery Co-operative hospital.

According to the police, it was the difference of opinion among the CPM and BJP activists over the erection of hoarding as part of election campaigning that led to the clash.

The police have started an investigation on a complaint given by the CPM.
