Cousin rapes minor girl, makes her pregnant

FollowA 16-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and impregnated by her cousin. The police arrested the youth and booked him under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The youth raped the minor, both natives of Payyannur, Kerala, several times making her pregnant, the police said.
The incident came to light when the teenager suffered dizziness and fell while at school. The school authorities took her to the hospital and on examination it was found that the girl is two months pregnant. It was only then that the teenager revealed about the assault she was facing from her cousin for quite some time.
Hospital authorities reported the incident to Childline authorities who informed the police about the assault. Police arrested the accused, Dhananjayan, from his house and on questioning he confessed to having committed the crime. The accused is the son of the brother of victim's father.
The girl was left in the custody of her parents.
